Some months ago we had a discussion about memorization of Coran etc..
The title I gave is the title of a book by Dale F. Eikelman which I bought while I was in the US but did not have time to look at it.
This professor of Anthropology is adressing many issues dealing with moroccan ways of learning and thinking.
"Historians and sociologists have tended to take at face value the ideological claim of the fixed nature of relgious knowledge. Consequently, not much attention has been given to a more critical analysis of how such sytem of knowledge is affected by its mode of transmission and its linkages with other aspects of society......" page 58
I really recommend this book.
take care
