Convoquée ce matin du 21 décembre par la Préfecture de la Seine-Saint-Denis à la cérémonie de remise de mon décret de naturalisation, j’ai été témoin de l’exclusion de quatre femmes portant un foulard et d’une cinquième porteuse d’un bandana. Trois d’entre elles (Mmes Ramdani, Cheikhi et El Marakchi) venaient retirer leur décret de naturalisation, les deux autres venaient accompagner un proche pour cette cérémonie.
A l’entrée du salon d’honneur de la Préfecture, les fonctionnaires ont demandé à ces femmes de retirer leur couvre-chef. Devant leur étonnement, les agents de la Préfecture ont invoqué des instructions de leur hiérarchie. Le sous-préfet, appelé pour justifier cette demande, l’a expliquée par des instructions formelles du Préfet de Seine-Saint-Denis pour qu’aucune femme voilée ne soit admise à assister à la cérémonie officielle de remise des décrets de naturalisation. Il a déclaré que ces instructions ne découlaient pas d’un texte législatif ou réglementaire mais se fondaient sur des principes républicains : pour une cérémonie aussi symbolique de l’intégration dans la communauté nationale française, où la Marseillaise est jouée, tout signe ostensible d’appartenance communautaire doit être banni. Depuis huit mois que ces instructions sont selon lui appliquées à Bobigny, elles n’auraient jamais provoqué d’incident. Appelé en renfort, le Directeur de Cabinet du Préfet (qui a refusé de donner son nom) confirmait les instructions, les attribuant à la volonté du Préfet, « maître dans la Maison de la République ».
Les cinq femmes ont donc attendu à la porte du Salon d’honneur, en compagnie d’une dizaine de policiers appelés en renfort. La cérémonie terminée, les autres personnes naturalisées sont parties, et les fonctionnaires ont remis leur décret de naturalisation aux trois personnes convoquées.
Les trois femmes ainsi exclues de cette cérémonie sont prêtes à témoigner de l’humiliation qu’elles ont subies.
Democracy isn't the imposing of fascism and bigotry on those of other religions. How can they say that France is the country of LIberty, Egalite et Fraternite if they use POLICE to put WOMEN outside of a government building and excluide them from a nationalitay ceremony???

La lois sur le foulard islamique n'est qu'un premier pas pour l'exlusion pure et simple des musulmans de la vie en France - et de la France tout simplement.

Je suis outré moi aussi Arabi par l'attitude du préfet, que je considère outrageante. D'ailleurs, je lui ai demandé de me confirmer, en lui exprimant déjà mon indignation si cela est avéré.
Mais là, tu pousses un peu loin. J'espère que tes écrits dépassent ta pensée, car je ne te connaissais pas comme cela.
Muslims in France - you must do something now to protect your rights as human beings to free movement, freedom to practice religious belief, and freedom to participate in society.
Organise. Protest. Have a voice! Show these people that their racist ways are not normal and in fact degrade them and make them less than they could be.
And French people! You must learn from the mistakes of the past! Democracy is not the majority imposing their will on others! Strength does not lie in conformity to some 'standard norm'. You are becoming FASCIST! Will you start burning books next? Refuse to serve Muslims in shops and government offices? Confiscate their property and then gas them?
Show some of the spirit and intellect that established the Republic of France, and learn from what has happened to every single state that has tried to subjugate another internal group based on race or religion. Initially there is some success, it is nice to be dominant and congratulate oneself on one's 'superiority' - and then what? EVERY other country in the history of the world that practiced what France is now attempting to do - they lost power. The dominant group can only hold that position for a short period of time in history - and then they are humiliated. Economically and ideologically, and usually their name becomes shameful. Germany and the Jews, South Africa and apartheid, the South of the USA and slavery, Saddam's Iraq and the Kurds, for example. This behaviour is a symptom of decay within the country and a sign of oncoming disaster.
Do you know what is happening with the French economy? Do you know that is the French economy continues on it's current path, in a few year's time there will probably be NO money for retirement without the work and contributions from the earnings of the french Muslims? Do you know that the French population is not REPRODUCING fast enough to keep up with the demands of your economic system based on interest and ever increasing consumption, and without the FRENCH MUSLIM workers that you are trying to make into second class citizens you WILL NOT be able to afford your standard of life??? WHO will pay for your retirement? Your schools? Your hospitals? Without population growth your economy will collapse, and you will have already seen the signs of it. Your government is currently selling off state-owned assets to pay for your social care systems, what will they do when there is nothing left to sell? Even if you only think of your own skins, accept Muslims as they are probably the ones whose taxation contributions will pay for your dentures and your old age nursing staff.
And you should beware French people. If you let your country men trample on the rights of others, then that kind of behaviour becomes normal where you live. And guess what? It's not very nice to live in a place where bullying and atrocities are normal, because it's not a safe place to be and it that's not a country with hope. And, it's also that much more likely that if push comes to shove, your rights won't mean much either to your countrymen, government, or the next local prefet with a grudge.

It's sometimes hard to see what's right in front of you. From a distance, things are sometimes clearer. In some other countries just calling a person an insult based on their race or religion will land you in jail, but in France it's the prefet who has done this, and the POLICE helped him.

Tu n'as pas à t'excuser car tes propos sont justes et bien fondés au contraire de cette réaction d'un haut représentant de l'Etat qui fait un abus de pouvoir et de zèle sans que cela soit justifié! c'est indigneet honteux comme comportements!

arabi, I agree with you brothers, unfortunately our brothers and sisters in france are not united. All they do is complain and after that they shut it up. Nobody is going to give you your rights, you have to fight and demand them. Look at the jews, they fully take advantage of their rights, in france there is over 5.5 millions of muslims and 700 000 jews, and who has more weight in politics, certainly not the muslims
