Most places will ask for a deposit ...the best way its to find 3 or more places that you like ect make contact & once you are in London you could stay in a Hostel for a week or so ...until you visit the places & you are happy with them once you are you need to pay a deposit & sign a contract
Do not pay anything before you visit the place day & night just in case the area its not suitable ....
