MINURSO has received reports from both Morocco and the Polisario Front of incidents of shooting at night-time in the territory at various locations along the security wall, the UN the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric said during a daily press briefing held Monday.

«The Mission continues to urge the parties to exercise restraint and take all necessary steps to defuse tensions, and our colleagues on the ground in Western Sahara are continuing to monitor the situation very closely», he added.

Since the start of the crisis, on October 21, the United Nations has tried in vain to convince the Polisario Front to lift the blockade in Guerguerate. After the launch, on November 13, of the operation led by FAR to secure the flow of goods and people in the border crossing, the United Nations urged for the respect of the cease-fire.

On Monday, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had a phone call with King Mohammed VI.
