Morocco is expected to receive new vaccine batches from Sinopharm, Sputnik V and AstraZeneca in the coming days. These batches will be arrive «between the end of March and the beginning of April», professor Azzedine Ibrahimi from Morocco's vaccination committee told EFE.
According to the official, the Kingdom will receive 2 million doses of Sinopharm, one and a half million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in South Korea as part of the WHO Covax program, one million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V and an undetermined amount of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine developed in India.
The expert however stressed that there is «a lot of uncertainty» on the last order of AstraZeneca, which must be delivered by Serum Institute of India (SII), which faces domestic demand.
In total, Morocco has acquired 8.5 million vaccines, including seven million delivered by SII and the rest from China.
