«I grew up in an environment full of scents,» Mina Gautier reminisces, capturing her deep affection for the world of perfumes. Surrounded by the rich floral and Oriental fragrances of Moroccan nature, Mina discovered her passion, leading her to a career as a perfumer where she blends science and art to craft uniquely spirited fragrances.
Her journey began in Oujda, inspired by her grandmother who instilled in her a love for nature and an interest in botanical elements.

Mina pursued this passion in 1979 by studying biology in Paris, deepening her understanding of essential oils. Originally from Ahfir, she shares with Yabiladi, «I chose biology to gain a strong scientific foundation for understanding essential oils. This blend of creativity and botanical knowledge guided me to become a perfumer.»
From biology to perfume making
In 2003, Mina launched her own brand, «Minalys», merging her Moroccan heritage with French influences. «My dual culture provides invaluable creative richness. This understanding of both worlds nourishes my creativity and is evident in my perfume designs, especially Oriental fragrances which are well-received in France,» she explains.

Located in Nancy, her perfume store features a remarkable showroom with a giant perfume tree, crafted in Murano, Italy. «I invite everyone to discover it personally or through our Instagram page 'minalys_off.'»
Mina's creations draw inspiration from her global travels and the continuous discovery of new oils and raw materials.
«To create my perfumes, I let my desires and inspirations from recent travels guide me. I start with the base note, reflecting the story I want to tell, then add the middle note, and finally the top note for a fresh character.»
Despite initial challenges, including sourcing pure raw materials and facing strong market competition, these obstacles fueled her creativity, inspired by blends of orange blossom and Moroccan rose, considered among the finest ingredients globally.

The Moroccan perfumer emphasizes the difficulty of sourcing high-quality raw materials for her 100% pure and natural perfumes, often requiring extensive travel. «For this reason, I travel a lot.»
For Mina, perfume is more than a scent; it's «a sensory memory that tells stories of places, people, and experiences.» Her notable achievements include a perfume dedicated to Nancy, capturing the city's spirit, and custom creations for figures like Gad El Maleh.
A Moroccan touch in every bottle
Mina aims to strengthen her ties to Morocco, planning to expand in the Moroccan market by leveraging its rich natural resources. «There's always a Moroccan touch in every perfume I design, distinguished and elegant. Moroccan rose and orange blossom hold special places in my creations,» she notes.

Her creativity extends beyond perfumes to her next major project: «The Palace of Perfumes» in Onville. This historic palace will become a global perfume center, featuring luxury suites and exhibition halls about perfume history, allowing visitors to create their own fragrances.
Proud of her Moroccan identity, Mina concludes, «Each suite’s unique architecture draws from the Morocco within me, creating a cultural bridge between East and West, reflecting my identity and passion.»
