The International Collective in Support of Families of Moroccan Origin Expelled from Algeria in 1975 (CiMEA75) held a virtual meeting on March 19 to plan its initiatives for 2025. The main focus was on commemorating the 50th anniversary of this tragedy, with a series of events scheduled in Morocco and internationally.
During the meeting, the executive board expressed gratitude for the support received and reaffirmed its commitment to defending the rights of the expelled individuals before national and international bodies. Discussions also covered preparations for a scientific symposium on the study The Memory of Moroccans Expelled from Algeria in 1975, conducted under the supervision of Professor Mimoun Aziza in partnership with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME). Adjustments were approved to further enrich this research, which draws on Moroccan archives.
The Collective reiterated the need to pressure Algeria into officially acknowledging the 1975 violations, issuing an apology, and providing reparations. It also outlined a media strategy to raise awareness of this tragedy and strengthen ties with the academic community to encourage further research.
Founded in 2021, CiMEA75 advocates for the recognition and compensation of the victims while condemning the Algerian state's continued denial of this dark chapter in history.
