Moroccan singer Mohcine Jamal passes away at 77 after health battle

The Moroccan artist Mohcine Benchekroun, known as Mohcine Jamal, passed away on the morning of Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 77 in a private clinic in Tangier, following a long battle with illness.

The late artist had been suffering from chronic conditions that required multiple surgeries, including one that resulted in the amputation of one of his legs. Recently, his health had significantly deteriorated.

His daughter, Najoua, confirmed in a statement to SNRTnews that his death was due to severe health complications, and she noted that the family would announce funeral details once the necessary arrangements had been made.

Mohcine Jamal was one of the artists who left a lasting impact on Morocco's artistic landscape through his many songs.
