The reflective meeting titled «Asylum and Refugees: At the Crossroads» is taking place this Wednesday at the bookstore of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat, as part of the lead-up to World Refugee Day, observed annually on June 20th. According to the organizers, «this roundtable provides a space for dialogue between literature, human mobility, and stories of exile».
The event features Daniele Dotto, Deputy Head of Delegation at the European Union Delegation to Morocco; François Reybet-Degat, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Morocco; Hanin Joha, a Syrian doctor based in Rabat; and Yacine Retnani from the publishing house La Croisée des Chemins.
In their words, the gathering is «a reflection on living together, illuminated by the words, journeys, and experiences of those who make up the human mosaic of today’s Morocco». They add that «books, testimonies, and ideas circulate here like people, in search of meaning, dignity, and connection».
Within this context, the discussions and personal stories will create «a moment of sharing to rethink our social bonds in an era defined by migration, hospitality, and the power of storytelling».
