The fifth edition of the Territorial Conference on Islam in France was held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at the Côte-d'Or prefecture, bringing together representatives of the Muslim faith, elected officials, academics, community organizations, and state services. The meeting, chaired by Paul Mourier, Prefect of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and Prefect of Côte-d'Or, was described by local media as «an important step in strengthening dialogue between the state and the actors of Islam in France».
The event is part of the broader Forum of Islam in France (FORIF). According to the same sources, this edition focused on four key areas: the security of places of worship and the fight against anti-Muslim acts, amid a rise in hate incidents; the legal and financial management of Muslim religious associations, to ensure transparency and adherence to the 1905 law on secularism; the organization of chaplaincies and the professionalization of imams, seen as vital for providing spiritual guidance that meets the needs of communities; and territorial structuring and inter-association cooperation, aimed at improving local coordination.
Organizers described the discussions as «rich and constructive». These exchanges are expected to contribute to the work of FORIF’s national groups, with the aim of proposing «shared solutions at the national level».
