The far-right Spanish party Vox has continued its hostile campaigns against Morocco, seizing on the royal pardon granted to more than 19,000 prisoners on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne. Without providing any concrete evidence, the party alleged that Morocco is «exporting criminals to Spain», linking the pardon to what it described as rising insecurity in the country.

Vox claimed that «Morocco is emptying its prisons of criminals, and the Popular and Socialist parties are inviting them, welcoming them with open arms, and distributing them across the country».

This rhetoric once again highlights the extremist party’s deliberate effort to stoke populist sentiment and fuel hatred toward immigrants, particularly those from the Global South, with Moroccans often singled out. Vox continues to portray the pardon as a security threat without citing any official evidence or statements from Spanish or European security authorities.

The party even went so far as to claim that «some of the pardon beneficiaries were spotted entering Spanish territory illegally via migration routes», in a clear attempt to exploit migration issues for its own narrow electoral agenda.
