Train from Marrakech to Tangier halted by deliberate track obstruction

A serious incident occurred on the railway line connecting Marrakech and Tangier during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The train driver discovered several large 5-liter plastic bottles filled with stones deliberately placed on the tracks in the Sidi Bou Othmane area.

The train collided with the obstacles, prompting an emergency stop that lasted 25 minutes and caused a power outage, leading to panic and extreme fear among passengers.

The incident happened just as a Royal Gendarmerie patrol was passing near the site. The patrol quickly intervened to secure the area and reassure passengers, before launching a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
