The detainees of the Rif movement, including Nasser Zefzafi, have announced a two-day hunger strike in solidarity with Gaza and Sudan.
The announcement was relayed by Mohamed Ahmajik, brother of detainee Nabil Ahmajik, in a Facebook post. «The message from the six detainees of the Rif movement in Tangier 2 prison: We, the six detainees of the Rif movement in Tangier 2 prison, declare that we will refuse food and water for 48 hours, until Wednesday, in solidarity with the victims of the starvation policy in Gaza and Sudan, and in protest against the international community’s failure to take responsibility for the ongoing genocidal crimes», the post read.
According to the same post, the detainees are: Mohamed JElloul, Nabil Ahmajik, Mohamed El Haki, Samir Ighid, Zakaria Adahchour, and Nasser Zefzafi.
The hunger crisis in Gaza has deepened due to what Palestinian authorities describe as Israel’s starvation policy against the region’s residents. Since October 2023, malnutrition has claimed 212 lives, including 98 children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Saturday.
In Sudan, the ongoing conflict has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions, creating what the United Nations calls the largest displacement and hunger crisis in the world today.
