Two new faces in Morocco’s squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui, has unveiled his squad for the upcoming African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The list features two newcomers: local-league goalkeeper El Mehdi Al Harrar and midfielder Nael El Aynaoui, who recently signed with Italian side AS Roma.

Goalkeepers: Yassine Bounou, Munir El Mohamedi, El Mehdi Al Harrar
Defenders: Achraf Hakimi, Omar El Hilali, Mohamed Chibi, Jawad El Yamiq, Achraf Dari, Nayef Aguerd, Adam Masina, Soufiane El Karouani, Youssef Belammari
Midfielders: Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, Ismail Saibari, Osama El Azzouzi, Sofyan Amrabat, Nael El Aynaoui, Ilias Ben Seghir
Forwards: Brahim Díaz, Ilias Akhomach, Youssef En-Nesyri, Ayoub El Kaabi, Marouane Saadi, Chamseddine Talbi, Amine Adli

The Atlas Lions will host Niger on September 5 at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium before traveling to Lusaka to take on Zambia on September 9.

Morocco needs just one point from these two fixtures to book its place at the World Cup for a third time in a row.
