The Moroccan Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali clinched the silver medal in the 3000-meter steeplechase final at the World Athletics Championships, currently underway in Tokyo, Japan.

El Bakkali finished with a time of 8:33.95, narrowly trailing New Zealand's Jordy Beamish, who secured the gold with a time of 8:33.88. The bronze medal was claimed by Kenya's Edmund Serem, who completed the race in 8:34.56.
