On October 9, Dakhla will host a key economic summit bringing together Moroccan and French business leaders. The announcement was made by Chakib Alj, president of the CGEM, on X, where he shared details about this important gathering. The meeting was first discussed during a September 18 exchange in Paris between Alj and Patrick Martin, president of MEDEF.

Just days earlier, CGEM headquarters in Casablanca hosted another meeting between the two sides. Led by Chakib Alj, the session brought together the co-presidents of the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, Mohamed El Kettani and Ross McInnes, who also focused on these issues.

«This high-level economic forum in Dakhla will convene key Moroccan and French economic and institutional players. Its goal is to explore investment opportunities in Morocco’s southern regions, foster new partnership dynamics, and spotlight the potential of strategic sectors like agro-industry, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, tourism, and services», the CGEM said in a press release.

As a reminder, France officially recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara on July 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration, through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), is preparing to provide financial backing for investment projects in the Sahara proposed by American companies.
