Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, has once again spoken out about the rape accusation against him during an appearance on Clique, broadcast on the French channel Canal Plus.
«I did nothing. Everything they accuse me of is false. For me, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. It’s the greatest harm I’ve suffered. It was very harsh and still is», Hakimi declared.
He added, «When they keep repeating lie after lie, it hurts. What hurts even more is my family. My children are still young, they don’t know what the internet is and they can’t read yet. But I know that one day they will grow up and read these things. For me, seeing lies written about their father is unacceptable. Honestly, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone».
On August 1, the public prosecutor in Nanterre, France, requested that the Moroccan international be referred to the regional criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine over the accusation of raping a young woman in 2023. The final decision now rests with the investigating judge.
Commenting on this, Hakimi said, «I am aware of what they accused me of. I know it’s a lie. I know I did nothing and would never do such a thing. I have always made myself available. I even asked to speak with the police, to explain my side of the story and tell them everything that happened. They also have my DNA».
He continued, «For anything they needed, I was there at their disposal. Unlike the person accusing me, who was not cooperative with the authorities. Thanks to the police’s work, we were able to uncover very good things».
Hakimi also reflected on the vulnerability of footballers, saying, «We are exposed to certain situations, women approaching us, attempts at blackmail».
The Moroccan national team star admitted that the ordeal has changed the way he manages his personal life: «My circle of acquaintances is now so small that I don’t allow just anyone into it».
