On Sunday morning, Spanish authorities began the first operations to repatriate Moroccan minors from the city of Ceuta to the mainland. As part of an emergency migration plan, a 17-year-old was transferred to Córdoba.
The operation was carried out by ferry, with the minor accompanied by an educational supervisor, after the public prosecutor’s office and juvenile affairs department finalized all the required legal procedures.
According to Iberian media, the Spanish government confirmed that the transfers will be conducted gradually and on an individual basis, in line with the timelines set by the decree: 15 days to process the files of minors who arrived after the emergency declaration, and four months for those already in shelters beforehand.
Ceuta is currently hosting more than 600 Moroccan minors, while Spanish regions such as Aragon and Andalusia have announced their readiness to provide hundreds of accommodation places.
