The Russian Embassy in Rabat has issued a cautionary statement to Russian tourists in Morocco, advising them to steer clear of demonstrations organized by the Generation Z movement. Moscow's diplomatic mission recommends avoiding large gatherings, according to a report by a Russian media outlet.
In its statement, the embassy noted that it has not yet received any complaints from Russian nationals concerning these protests. It highlighted that «protests have been ongoing in several Moroccan cities, including Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, and Agadir, since September 27. Authorities are implementing comprehensive measures to stabilize the situation».
This wave of unrest, which has swept across numerous cities in the kingdom, has been marked by intense violence. Notably, in Lqliaa, three young men were fatally shot while attempting to breach a royal gendarmerie barracks. Similar incidents have been reported in Salé, Oujda, Marrakech, Taroudant, and Inzegan.
