The GenZ 212 movement has announced the suspension of all protests planned for Friday, October 10. The decision, the group said, was made out of respect for «King Mohammed VI and in recognition of the symbolic importance of his noble speech at the opening of the parliamentary session».

In a public statement, the movement explained that the pause reflects «a sense of national responsibility, a commitment to the nation’s core values and constitutional institutions, and a firm belief in the power of calm and constructive dialogue to achieve legitimate demands and uphold the values of justice and dignity».

However, the group, which used the hashtag #AkhannouchMustGo in its statement, confirmed that a sit-in scheduled for Thursday would go ahead as planned. It emphasized that suspending Friday’s protests does not signal a retreat from its demands but rather demonstrates «the discipline, awareness, and national responsibility embodied by Moroccan youth».

Since September 27, the GenZ 212 movement has been organizing demonstrations across several Moroccan cities, calling for better healthcare, improved education, and greater employment opportunities.
