In recent hours, the city of Ceuta has witnessed a new wave of irregular migration attempts, this time involving dozens of Moroccan minors who swam across the sea to reach the enclave, taking advantage of poor weather conditions, according to local media.

Over the past 24 hours, around 30 Moroccan minors have managed to cross, and that number is expected to rise in the coming hours. The same sources reported that Spain’s Civil Guard conducted several high-risk rescue operations, with officers battling towering waves to pull young people from the water who were on the verge of drowning.

According to official figures, Ceuta is currently hosting 553 Moroccan minors in the city’s shelters.
