The recent brief detention of Moroccans Aziz Ghali and Abdeladim Bendraoui in Israel sparked discussions during the United Nations Secretary-General's press briefing.

On Wednesday, a Palestinian journalist brought up the matter, claiming that the two Moroccan nationals were "still imprisoned" in Israel. Surprised by this revelation, spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric indicated that he needed time to verify the details.

The following day, Dujarric provided an update: «The two Moroccan citizens who were on board the flotilla to Gaza... According to our information, they were repatriated to Casablanca on Sunday; they have therefore returned home,» he stated.

To recall, last week, Morocco's liaison office in Tel Aviv secured an agreement with Israeli authorities for the release of Aziz Ghali, former president of the AMDH, and Abdeladim Bendraoui. The two were detained in Israel due to their involvement in the flotilla bound for Gaza.
