The French Development Agency (AFD) announced on Wednesday the appointment of Catherine Bonnaud as its new director in Morocco, with Bertrand Poche stepping in as deputy director. This leadership change comes amid a particularly strong bilateral partnership, focused on collaboratively tackling future challenges, according to a statement.

In this context, the new director is committed to enhancing the partnership with Morocco. «We will build on the continuity of past efforts to solidify the commitments made with the Moroccan authorities and local partners. My goal is to highlight the outcomes of our investments», she stated.

The objective is also to «strengthen AFD's position as Morocco's go-to partner in aligning its initiatives» with the key priorities of the New Development Model: «ecological transition, water resource conservation, sustainable mobility, resilient infrastructure, and expanded social protection».

Moreover, there is an emphasis on «supporting local dynamics and fostering inclusive development, at the crossroads of national policies and regional needs».
