The Moroccan and French navies are set to launch a new edition of the Chebec naval exercise. To mark this event, the frigate Mohammed VI arrived at the port of Toulon on Friday, October 31. This vessel «will participate next week in the Chebec 2025 exercise, a testament to the enduring cooperation and friendship between the navies of the two countries», announced the French Command of the Mediterranean and Black Sea maritime zone (CECMED). Just last year, in October 2024, the Moroccan and French naval forces carried out the 30th edition of this exercise.
It's worth recalling that Morocco hosted the Chergui military maneuvers last September, which brought together the armed forces of both nations for several days in the Tafilalet region. This edition was «designed around a scenario simulating an aggression against Morocco's territorial integrity», as reported by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
Prior to joining the 31st Chebec exercise in Toulon, units of the Royal Moroccan Navy engaged in joint naval maneuvers with the American Navy off the coast of Al Hoceima last week.
