Hakim Ziyech receives hero’s welcome at Wydad Casablanca

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech was greeted like a hero on Sunday as he made his first club appearance in Morocco, joining Wydad AC after signing a two-year contract.

Before Wydad’s home match against IR Tangier, the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, filled with 67,000 fans, erupted in cheers as Ziyech entered the pitch amid fireworks to salute supporters.

The former Ajax and Chelsea winger later took his seat among the passionate Wydad fans, above a banner bearing his name, to watch his new team secure a 2-0 victory, with Nordin Amrabat providing an assist.

A national hero since Morocco’s World Cup semi-final run, Ziyech’s return home marks a new chapter in his career and a dream come true for Moroccan football fans.
