The walk/run organized by Dar Zhor takes place a week after Pink October, the month dedicated to raising awareness about breast and cervical cancer. Is this a continuation of that mobilization?
Yes, it is conceived as a natural extension of our Pink October mobilization, a month during which we intensify our communication about breast cancer screening and supportive care. After a month of awareness and grassroots initiatives, this walk/run offers an opportunity to turn that wave of solidarity into a unifying civic movement centered on adapted physical activity, which is essential in the care pathway for cancer patients. It reflects our desire to move beyond information alone by inviting everyone to act, move, and get involved.
Who can participate?
This event is open to everyone: patients, relatives, families, associations, companies, beginner or experienced athletes, engaged citizens, and the simply curious. The goal is to keep it inclusive and accessible, fostering a spirit of intergenerational solidarity.
There are no athletic requirements, walking, running, doing something good for the body or the heart, everything is possible on this day dedicated to prevention, physical activity, and the fight against cancer.

The first edition saw the participation of nearly 600 people. Do you wish to build on this success to make it a regular event?
Yes, that is our ambition. Building on the success of the first edition held in 2024 in Casablanca, we aim to establish this event as an annual highlight in the city’s calendar.
Each year, the Solidarity Walk will mobilize more citizens, bring together public and private partners, and most importantly, help fund supportive care, such as adapted physical activity, nutrition, and psychological support, all offered free of charge to patients at Dar Zhor. We want to make it a lasting, nationwide movement.
What other activities combining sport, well-being, and post-chemotherapy care do you offer?
Dar Zhor is the first non-medical support and care center dedicated to adults with cancer in Morocco. Throughout the year, we offer a personalized care pathway, accompanying each patient from the moment of diagnosis to six months after the end of treatment.
This pathway is built around four key pillars:
- Psychological support, individually or in groups (psychology, hypnosis, art therapy, etc.);
- Adapted physical activity (APA) supervised by trained professionals (yoga, walking, strengthening, dance therapy...);
- Bodily and nutritional well-being, with workshops on specialized nutrition, socio-aesthetics, and managing treatment side effects;
- Information and therapeutic education, through workshops on the disease, resilience, social life, and employment.
First edition of the Solidarity Walk and Run - November 2024 / Ph. Association Dar Zhor
All of this support is offered free of charge in a professional and caring environment, with proven impact. Our psychosocial impact study, conducted between June 2024 and March 2025, showed that this program significantly improves quality of life during and after treatment, reducing stress, improving sleep, increasing vitality, and boosting self-esteem.
Beyond well-being, science is now conclusive: integrating supportive care into cancer treatment not only alleviates side effects but also improves adherence to therapy, reduces anxiety and depression, and strengthens recovery prospects. In certain cancers, such as breast, colon, or prostate, regular and adapted physical activity can even reduce the risk of recurrence.
Is this also a way to encourage people to keep exercising after treatment?
Absolutely. Numerous international studies have confirmed that regular physical activity is not only beneficial for prevention, but also plays a crucial role during cancer.
It helps patients better tolerate treatments by reducing fatigue, pain, sleep disorders, and anxiety, while significantly improving quality of life during illness. For certain cancers, it also lowers the risk of recurrence.

That’s why the Dar Zhor walk/run is much more than a sporting or symbolic event, it’s a public health initiative based on scientific evidence, reminding us that movement is a true therapeutic ally before, during, and after cancer.
We look forward to welcoming many participants to share this moment of joy, solidarity, and positive energy. The Dar Zhor Solidarity Walk is more than just a race, it’s a breath of fresh air, a space for connection and emotion, filled with surprises, inspiring activities, and a collective drive that nurtures both body and heart.
