Al Adl wal Ihsane has described the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 (2025) as «a significant step forward toward a reasonable solution to this issue».

In its statement, the Islamist movement emphasized that «Morocco’s strength lies in its unity, the cohesion of its social and territorial fabric, and its rejection of any form of division or fragmentation that would only serve the nation’s enemies».

The group expressed its view that «the autonomy proposal, if implemented in a democratic, fair, and transparent manner, and in line with the principles of good governance, could offer a genuine opportunity for development in the southern provinces».

True to its position of opposition to the authorities, the movement nonetheless criticized «the unilateral approach that has characterized the management of the Sahara issue since its inception», arguing that it «has deprived Moroccans of their legitimate right to fully participate in its resolution».

The statement also condemned «the instrumentalization of the Sahara issue to conceal the deep economic, social, political, and human rights crises afflicting the country».

Al Adl wal Ihsane insisted that «any genuine autonomy must form part of a comprehensive democratic project that guarantees justice, freedom, and the effective participation of all Moroccans». The movement asserted that «true national sovereignty over the southern provinces cannot be achieved without popular sovereignty over political decision-making, exercised through real democracy».

It concluded by warning against «the gravest threat to national sovereignty: attempts to blackmail Morocco by linking the resolution of the national cause to the normalization of relations with the criminal Zionist entity».
