The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced a three-match suspension for Luis Díaz. The Colombian player is being penalized for causing a severe ankle sprain to Achraf Hakimi during the match between Bayern Munich and PSG on November 4th in the Champions League. The German club is considering an appeal.

Following his tackle on the Moroccan international during the match, Díaz received a red card. On his social media, he described it as an «emotionally charged evening». While he wished the injured player a speedy recovery, Díaz did not apologize for his violent action.

Hakimi left the field in tears and will be sidelined for at least six weeks. He hopes to regain fitness in time to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025), scheduled to start on December 21st in Morocco.

Named the African Player of the Year at this year's CAF Awards, Hakimi recently provided some reassurance about his health. On social media, he was seen training indoors, wearing an orthopedic boot.
