Morocco has won the Under-12 African Tennis Championship, a prestigious competition that took place from Nov. 17-23 at the MTA club in Casablanca and featured participants from 11 African nations.

In the girls' category, the Moroccan team, comprising Dina Jaoid, Nouha Touimy and Yacout El Ghafouli, delivered an exceptional performance. They secured victories in all their matches against South Africa, Tunisia, Kenya and Nigeria, as reported by the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation.

The national team edged out South Africa with a 2-1 scoreline, achieved a crucial 2-1 win over Tunisia, and dominated Kenya and Nigeria with consecutive 3-0 victories, the statement added. This impeccable performance led the Moroccan girls to earn the title of African U12 champions.

On the boys' side, the Moroccan team, featuring Nasser Mouaffak, Abdeljabbar Essadki and Ismail Benkirane, competed in a group of five teams. Morocco topped Group B in the initial phase and advanced to the semi-finals. However, they faced a 2-1 defeat against Tunisia, which ultimately claimed the boys' title after a 2-1 victory over Ghana in the final.

Morocco secured a 2-0 win against South Africa, which let the team conclude the tournament with a third-place finish.

With the girls' triumph and the boys' commendable third-place finish, Morocco topped the overall standings and was officially crowned the U12 African champion.
