The 7th summit between the African Union and the European Union, which took place on November 24 and 25 in Angola and included the participation of the Polisario, concluded with the adoption of the Luanda Declaration.
Paragraph 28 of the final communiqué, reviewed by Yabiladi, emphasizes the importance of «good neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, the peaceful resolution of disputes, full respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the right to self-determination». The latter point received particular attention from media outlets aligned with the Polisario.
Similar to last week's G20 summit in South Africa, the Sahara issue was notably absent from the Luanda Declaration, despite a call from the head of the Polisario in a speech yesterday urging participants to back the «independence» of the territory.
Meanwhile, summit participants reiterated their «steadfast support for a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace» in Ukraine, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Sahel, Somalia, and in all other conflict zones worldwide.
