On Thursday, the Somali Prime Minister reaffirmed his support for Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara. Following suit on Friday, Somalia's Foreign Minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, echoed this position in a joint statement issued after his talks in Rabat with Nasser Bourita.

The two diplomats signed a cooperation roadmap for 2026-2028, aimed at bolstering high-level exchanges and fostering collaboration in several vital sectors. These include agriculture, water and irrigation, maritime fishing, tourism, renewable energies, training, higher education, health, security, economic promotion and investment, climate change, as well as sports and culture.

On the multilateral stage, the ministers highlighted the significance of coordination and political consultations within various forums and international organizations. Their goal is to ensure aligned positions on issues of mutual interest, while upholding the principles of peace, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states.

It's worth noting that Morocco has previously signed similar cooperation roadmaps, typically spanning two years, with several nations recognizing its sovereignty over the Sahara, including Grenada, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Lucia, The Gambia, and Malawi.
