The National Council of the USFP gathered this Saturday, December 13, in Rabat to elect its political bureau members. The list put forward by First Secretary Driss Lachgar stands out due to the notable omission of Younès Moujahid, who heads the Provisional Commission overseeing press and publishing matters in Morocco.
Insiders within the Party of the Rose suggest this exclusion might be connected to the scandal that has engulfed the commission led by Moujahid for several weeks, following explosive revelations by journalist Hamid El Mahdaoui.
«Driss Lachgar is keen to distance the USFP from this controversy, especially with an election year on the horizon», a party insider revealed to Yabiladi, requesting anonymity.
This move comes just a few days after Younès Moujahid was removed from the jury of a film festival in Agadir.
The newly proposed lineup for the USFP's political bureau by Driss Lachgar is also marked by the absence of journalist Hanane Rihab, who serves on the executive bureau of the Moroccan National Press Union.
