The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced that it will pursue legal action before the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) over the Senegalese team’s withdrawal during the final against Morocco, as well as the incidents that followed the referee’s decision to award a penalty.
In a statement, the federation stressed that the penalty was legitimate, noting that it was upheld «by consensus among experts». It added that the withdrawal of the opposing players «significantly disrupted the normal course of the match and affected the players’ performance».
The FRMF also extended its heartfelt thanks to Moroccan supporters, praising their unwavering loyalty, massive turnout, and exemplary support throughout the national team’s matches, as well as during other games of the tournament.
