International University of Casablanca (UIC) issued an apology on Thursday, January 22, 2026, to its entire community and to the public following the circulation of comments deemed shocking, which were posted on social media by one of its staff members in a personal capacity.
In an official statement, the university clarified that the remarks were made outside any institutional framework and published on personal accounts. Nevertheless, UIC stated that it assumes «full moral responsibility» as an academic and educational institution, while acknowledging the strong reactions and emotions generated by the incident.
Upon being informed of the matter, the university said it acted «with diligence, seriousness, and firmness». A thorough review was conducted in accordance with its internal code of conduct and the applicable regulatory framework. At the conclusion of this process, a «firm and definitive» decision was taken: the individual concerned no longer holds any position within the institution.
Describing itself as a pan-African university, UIC reaffirmed its commitment to the values of respect, human dignity, diversity, and coexistence, which it described as non-negotiable and central to its educational mission.
The university also assured that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the continuity of activities in a «calm, safe, and respectful» environment.
Finally, UIC called for calm, responsibility, and mutual respect, while stating its intention to draw lessons from this episode in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
