Local authorities in the province of Kénitra have unveiled a comprehensive strategy to facilitate the phased return of residents who were evacuated due to recent severe weather disturbances in the region.
Formulated after extensive on-the-ground assessments, this strategy integrates both operational and logistical components. It involves deploying dedicated transportation resources, establishing supervised routes, and providing on-site support to ensure the smooth and safe return of residents.
The operation is scheduled to commence on Sunday, February 15, 2026, initially targeting several neighborhoods, douars, and communes. These include Jbba, Mlalka, Mrifek, Ouled Amer, Ouled Bouali, Chqaqfa (in the commune of Mograne), Saffari (Amer Seflia), Khiyaira, Bnannda, Majjour (Sidi Allal Tazi), Ouled Jlal and Meknassat (Souk Tlat Al Gharb), Mnasra (Sidi Mohamed Lahmar), Afaifa (in the commune of Mnasra), and Ouled Chokr (Ouled Salama).
For other affected areas, a timetable will be provided at a later date, contingent on evolving ground conditions and continuous evaluations.
Authorities are also advising residents in sectors not yet included in the plan to avoid returning to the affected areas until an official announcement permits their return. This precautionary measure is intended to mitigate risks until water levels recede and safety conditions are fully assured.
Checkpoints will be established at the entrances of the impacted areas to regulate access and ensure the operation is conducted in an orderly and secure manner.
