Morocco has enlisted a British firm specializing in forensic image analysis to evaluate the physical resemblance between Hassan II and Jane Benzaquen, a Jewish Moroccan woman asserting she is his biological daughter. According to a report by SRi Forensics, commissioned by legal representatives associated with Morocco, the facial similarities observed do not provide sufficient evidence of kinship, El Independiente reported this Saturday.
Experts underscore that the resemblances between the two faces could merely be the result of natural variations among individuals from similar populations. The report highlights the limited scientific value of visual comparisons for definitively establishing a biological link.
The British analysis also scrutinized a widely circulated comparative image in the media. Experts suspect that some photos of the monarch may have been digitally altered, possibly through cropping or retouching, which could artificially enhance the resemblance. They conclude that the visual elements reviewed only weakly support the hypothesis of a familial relationship.
Meanwhile, Jane Benzaquen’s defense disputes these findings, arguing that physical resemblance is just one factor among others, including testimonies and documents. They claim to have obtained a separate analysis indicating a higher degree of similarity and maintain that only a genetic test can definitively resolve the issue, as noted by the Iberian media.
