Morocco has recently launched an international tender for the import of 1,000 tons of frozen beef and 3,000 tons of frozen camel meat, intended to supply the Royal Armed Forces. According to a notice issued by the National Defense Administration, interested companies must submit their bids before March 9, the Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA) reported on Wednesday.
Morocco is mainly interested in Brazilian frozen beef. With regard to Brazil, to which a notice of the tender was sent, such purchase of beef will comply with the sanitary agreements in force and the valid health certificates between the two countries. The conditions state that the animals must be born and slaughtered in Brazil, fed exclusively on plant-based feed, and originate from officially certified states free of parasites and diseases. In addition, the slaughtering process must comply with halal procedures in accordance with Islamic rules.
The frozen meat must come from recent production, no more than three months after slaughter. A designated commission will be responsible for inspecting the products to ensure compliance with Moroccan sanitary standards before granting approval, ANBA reported.
