Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has recovered from the injury he sustained during the Atlas Lions’ training camp at the Africa Cup of Nations, which took place between December 2025 and January 2026.
On Sunday, his club Girona FC announced his return on its official X account, sharing a photo of the midfielder training with his teammates captioned: «Azz is back».
His coach Míchel confimed the news : «We have Ounahi back, and he will be able to help us. He is ready to play, and that is very good. It’s reassuring to know we can build a competitive team, with many players deserving a place in the squad».
Girona are set to face Deportivo Alavés on Monday, February 23, in a Spanish league fixture.
Ounahi had been sidelined with a calf injury that ruled him out for the remainder of AFCON. The estimated recovery period at the time of his injury was estimated at six weeks.
