A 30-year-old Moroccan national is the main suspect in the murder of a 44-year-old German woman found decapitated in an abandoned farmhouse in Scandicci, near Florence. The Florence Prosecutor’s Office has ordered his arrest, according to local media reports.

The victim’s body was discovered inside a farmhouse reportedly occupied by the suspect. During the investigation, Carabinieri officers seized a blood-stained machete and a knife, both of which are currently undergoing forensic examination.

The suspect is currently hospitalized at Torregalli Hospital. He was taken there on February 18 after authorities ordered compulsory medical treatment because he was behaving erratically in a public space where locals often go for walks.

Authorities are continuing to reconstruct the victim’s final hours and determine the motive behind the crime, which has deeply shocked the local community.
