The Moroccan naval powerhouse, the multi-mission frigate (FREMM) Mohammed VI, recently showcased its prowess in the high-stakes combat readiness exercise ORION 26. This operation was conducted as part of the French naval air group, which includes the renowned aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and other prominent French and European vessels, according to an official statement.
«For approximately two weeks, while integrated into the aircraft carrier's escort, the frigate engaged in a series of maneuvers across the Mediterranean and later the Atlantic. These exercises enabled the entire fleet to hone their combat skills under challenging weather conditions», the statement disclosed.
The report further highlighted that the Moroccan FREMM was actively involved in the second phase of ORION 26, an exercise designed to prepare for «high-intensity and emerging conflicts, organized and led by France in collaboration with its allies and partners».
The French Embassy in Morocco emphasized that the inclusion of the FREMM Mohammed VI in these operations, «on par with European partners», signifies «the depth of trust between the two navies and the dynamic nature of Franco-Moroccan military cooperation».
Additionally, Orion is described as a comprehensive multi-domain exercise, aiming to «evaluate the capability of the French armed forces to execute high-intensity operations within a joint and allied framework».
