During a press briefing on Wednesday evening, Mauritania's government spokesperson, El Houssein Ould Medou, reaffirmed the country's steadfast position on the Western Sahara issue. He underscored Mauritania's dedication to maintaining constructive neutrality and supporting diplomatic efforts to bridge the gap between the involved parties, as reported by media outlets in Nouakchott.

«Mauritania advocates for serious and constructive dialogue to reach a mutually acceptable political solution, in line with relevant international resolutions,» stated the Minister of Communication, Culture, and Relations with Parliament.

This week, a Mauritanian delegation took part in discussions held in Washington by the administration of Donald Trump, aligning with Resolution 2797 passed by the United Nations Security Council on October 31.

Since 1984, Mauritania has recognized the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)».
