Moroccan international Munir El Haddadi, who plays for Iran Pro League club Esteghlal F.C., has confirmed that he left Iran amid escalating tensions following recent U.S. and Israeli strikes.

In an Instagram story posted on Sunday, he wrote that he left the country by road after being unable to depart by air. «The plan was to leave the country by air, but we were ultimately evacuated from the plane and were unable to take off», he told his fans.

With assistance from his club, El Haddadi was provided with a car and successfully crossed the border into Turkey without complications. «At the moment, I am safe in Turkey and will be arriving in Spain in the coming hours», he said.

In a video shared on X, the player is seen after landing in Spain, showing footage of the missiles to journalists who were waiting for his arrival.

The 30-year-old forward joined Iranian club Esteghlal in September 2025, marking his first move to Iranian football. A product of Barcelona’s academy, he previously played for Valencia, Alavés, Sevilla and Getafe before moving abroad. He also represents the Morocco national team, having chosen to switch his international allegiance to Morocco in 2021.
