The disqualification of Senegal from the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025), as determined by the appeals committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has now been officially endorsed by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). This development has positively impacted Morocco's position in FIFA's global rankings, boosting their overall score by 18.02 points.
Currently, the national team remains in eighth place, but their updated score of 1754.59 points, up from 1736.57, brings them closer to overtaking teams ranked above them. Morocco is now within reach of the Netherlands, which holds the seventh spot with 1756.27 points, as well as Portugal (6th; 1760.38) and Brazil (5th; 1760.46). Meanwhile, Morocco is also widening its lead over Belgium (9th; 1730.71) and Germany (10th; 1724.15), who complete the top 10.

Last week, the CAF's appeals committee stripped Senegal of their CAN 2025 title, awarding it to Morocco by default with a 3-0 decision. This ruling followed the Lions of Teranga's decision to leave the field without the referee's permission before the end of their final match against the Atlas Lions. Such conduct was considered a forfeit under the organization's regulations.
