Between January 1, 2024, and February 15, 2026, Moroccan authorities handled 135 out of 182 fraud cases linked to pyramid schemes, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said in response to a written parliamentary question. In this context, 137 suspects have been arrested and referred to justice, while the number of victims has reached nearly 1,887.

According to the minister, these figures highlight the scale of the threat posed by pyramid scheme networks, which target victims’ savings through deceptive promises. He reaffirmed the Ministry of the Interior’s ongoing commitment to tackling economic and financial crime, conducting investigations, and bringing those involved to justice.

These efforts are part of an action plan based on both preventive and deterrent measures, led by specialized units dedicated to combating this type of crime.

This includes the National Office for Combating Financial Crime, part of the National Brigade of Judicial Police, along with its regional branches in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Fès, as well as the economic and financial brigades of decentralized judicial police services.

The ministry also stressed the importance of monitoring such crimes through enhanced surveillance of data circulating on digital platforms, including social media.
