The Royal Gendarmerie in the M'jatt community of Chichaoua province arrested an Islamic education teacher in his thirties on Monday. The teacher, employed at a local secondary school, is under investigation for allegedly sexually exploiting his students, according to local media.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint lodged by a student's parent at the Royal Gendarmerie center in M'jatt. The parent accused the teacher of sexually exploiting their son and another student, both of whom live in the school's boarding facility where the teacher is employed.
The student revealed to his father the details of the abuse, which reportedly involved the teacher offering better grades in Islamic education in exchange for compliance with his demands. The teacher allegedly took advantage of the students' vulnerability, given their status as minors living away from their families.
The suspect is currently held in preventive detention, as ordered by the relevant public prosecutor's office.
