On Friday, April 10, 2026, the Paris Criminal Court acquitted Laura Prioul of attempting to extort Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred, as reported by Le Parisien.

Prioul had been accused of trying to extort Lamjarred by demanding three million euros through his manager in exchange for dropping her rape allegations or not appearing in court.

Lamjarred lodged a complaint regarding this matter, with the alleged incidents occurring between October 2024 and June 2025, just before the appeal session for the rape case in which he was convicted. The appeal was postponed due to the ongoing investigation into these allegations.

It's important to note that the artist, now 40, was initially sentenced to six years in prison by the Paris Criminal Court in 2023 for the rape and assault of Laura Prioul in 2016 at a hotel.

In a related development, Lamjarred is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Court in the Var region, in Draguignan, from May 11 to 15, to face another rape accusation from 2018 near Saint-Tropez, which he denies.
