In his first public comments since being sent to trial over a rape charge, Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi expressed that he remains «calm» about the situation. During a press conference ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg between PSG and Liverpool, scheduled for Tuesday, the footballer addressed the matter in response to a question.

Echoing his defense's stance, Hakimi reaffirmed that the allegations against him are «false.» He stated, «I know this accusation is false, I am calm. I leave this in the hands of my lawyers and the justice system,» the Atlas Lion said, maintaining his denial of the accusations.

Hakimi was sent to trial last February over alleged incidents from 2023 involving a woman who was 24 years old at the time. The complainant initially approached a police station in Val-de-Marne, a suburb of Paris, where she gave her account without filing a formal complaint. This led to a preliminary investigation being launched.

A few days later, Hakimi was indicted. As of now, no trial date has been set following his referral to the departmental criminal court of Hauts-de-Seine.
