Al Barid Bank says leaked data not sensitive, customers’ accounts remain secure

Al Barid Bank said on Sunday that data exposed in an alleged online leak was not sensitive and does not allow access to customer accounts or the use of bank cards. The statement follows preliminary investigations into information circulating on certain websites and social media about a possible cyberattack.

«Customer accounts and bank cards remain fully secure», the bank said, adding that «an investigation is underway to determine the exact source and nature of the data». It stressed that «protecting customers’ data and transactions» remains its top priority.

On social media, posts relayed content allegedly published on the dark web suggesting that attackers may have obtained database logs, records of instant transfers, direct debits, card issuance data, and internal identifiers linked to certain branches.
