A Youtuber has been sentenced to one year in prison and fined 10,000 dirhams by the Misdemeanor Chamber of the Sefrou Primary Court, in a case involving defamation and violation of the private life of artist Latifa Raafat.

In the civil proceedings, the court also ordered the defendant to pay 100,000 dirhams in damages, after finding him guilty of spreading false allegations on social media.

According to the case file, the defendant published content containing accusations that infringed on the artist’s private life, including claims that she acted as an intermediary in organizing parties for officials, along with other statements deemed defamatory.

On March 16, the Public Prosecution placed the defendant in pre-trial detention following a complaint filed by Latifa Raafat’s legal team, after he posted a video on social media containing what were described as serious accusations against her.
