Stellantis has opened a vehicle dismantling center in Casablanca, its first such facility in the Middle East and Africa region and the third worldwide after Turin in Italy and São Paulo in Brazil, the automaker announced on Wednesday.

Presented as a regional industrial pilot and a catalyst for the development of circular economy activities across the Middle East and Africa (MEA), the site is designed to serve Morocco and Sub-Saharan West Africa, the company said in a press release. Located on a 6,000-square-meter site, the Casablanca facility represents a €1.6 million investment and will be capable of dismantling up to 10,000 vehicles annually. Stellantis said the center could create around 150 direct and indirect jobs once operating at full capacity.

The plant’s main activities include sourcing end-of-life vehicles from insurance companies, auctions, and dedicated ELV channels, dismantling vehicles, selling used original parts, and collecting components for recycling. The recovered parts, including selected used product families such as traction batteries, will be distributed through Stellantis’ after-sales network, partner repairers, Distrigo hubs, and digital platforms including B-Parts.

«Circular Economy is a strategic priority for Stellantis in the Middle East and Africa», said Samir Cherfan, Chief Operating Officer for the region and Global Head of Micromobility. He added that the strategy combines «industrial performance, affordability for customers, and the responsible use of resources» while helping secure the group’s long-term industrial footprint in the region.

Jean Christophe Bertrand, Senior Vice President for Stellantis Middle East & Africa Parts & Services, said the initiative aims to extend the lifespan of vehicles and parts while optimizing resource use through the principles of the «4Rs»: remanufacturing, repair, reuse, and recycling.

According to Stellantis, the Casablanca center is the first facility of its kind launched by an automaker in Morocco and is intended to become a benchmark for structured end-of-life vehicle management in the country. The company added that the project also aims to build a traceable and compliant ecosystem for circular economy activities across the MEA region.
